چکیده

EXTENDED ABSTRACT The removal of chromium from water and wastewater has caused increased research interest in recent years. Chromium exists in the environment mainly in one of two valence states: a) trivalent Cr(III), and b) hexavalent Cr(VI) form. Cr(VI) enters the environment primarily through industrial processes including the production of steel and metal alloys, chrome plating, dyes and pigments, as well as leather and wood preservation. Cr(VI) compounds are highly soluble at neutral pH. Constructed wetlands (CWs) are presently considered the most promising technology of wastewater treatment due to their low cost, simple operation and maintenance, and favourable aesthetic appearance. Several studies have shown the overall effectiveness of CWs in treating not only municipal wastewater but heavy metals as well. CWs achieve high pollutant reduction rates because the planted vegetation can adapt to the existing operating conditions.

Comparison of Treatment Performance between Constructed Wetlands with Different Plants

Constructed wetlands have gained much importance for treating domestic, industrial and agricultural wastes and are considered as an effective secondary or tertiary treatment method. The main characteristics affect the removal efficiency of constructed wetland are the vegetation type, hydraulic residence time and substrate. The aim of the present study is to examine effect of vegetation type on ...

Pollutant removal by Canna Generalis in tropical constructed wetlands for domestic wastewater treatment

Constructed wetlands have not been commonly used in Vietnam due to the lack of information in the selection of proper types of constructed wetlands, type of reeds, design parameters and performance efficiency, in tropical climates. This paper focuses on Canna generalis, which is a common reed and easy to grow both in water and wet land conditions. Two kinds of hybrid constructed wetlan...

Analyzing the Removal Effect of Nitrogen before and after Enhanced Aeration in Constructed Wetlands

In this research, constructed wetlands were applied to remove the nitrogen of lightly polluted wastewater from a wastewater treatment plant in Tangshan. The results showed that a favorable removal effect of nitrogen could be obtained through constructed wetland. Moreover, the aeration device added to the bottom could increase the removal rates of ammonia nitrogen in lightly polluted wastewater,...
